Nathan's T-Shirt Quilt

Hi there!  I'm not sure how a month passed so quickly without one single post...  We've been traveling quite a bit, so the blog and my sewing machine have taken a back seat.  I never did show you the t-shirt quilt I finished most recently, so here goes!

I added a 1.5" border and did a machine attached binding in black.

As usual, I quilted "in the ditch."

The backing is fleece, which gives the quilt the perfect weight and softness.  It was more difficult to work with than cotton or flannel, but it was definitely worth the trouble!

  1. I love this! I really love the gray border with the black binding - it makes it look so sporty. I've found the fleece much more fun to work with, and it almost seems like since the t-shirts are knit, the fleece works better than cotton in some way because it has more give when you're quilting. This quilt looks so good!

  3. Do you have to use a serger for this project?

    1. Nope, no serger necessary! I just used my regular sewing machine.

  4. Do you sew the tee shirts together before you sew them to the fleece?

  5. Did you put anything on back of the tee shirt to prevent stretching?
